Planning & Architecture
We mapped the full system architecture before any design or development work began — defining the assessment flow, the AI scoring pipeline, the audio composition engine, the recommendation logic, and the data architecture for storing sensitive health information compliantly. Getting the foundation right here was essential, because every other layer of the app depends on it.

UI/UX Design
Mental wellness is an emotionally sensitive context. The design had to feel calm, welcoming, and trustworthy — not clinical or corporate. We designed an interface that guides users through complex psychological assessments without ever feeling like a medical questionnaire, and presents personalised recommendations in a way that feels like genuine care rather than algorithmic output.

Cross-Platform Mobile Development
The app was built using Flutter — delivering a high-performance, visually consistent experience across both iOS and Android from a single codebase. Flutter was the right choice here: the app handles real-time audio playback, animated interfaces, and complex data visualisations simultaneously, and Flutter’s rendering engine handles all of that without the performance trade-offs common in other cross-platform frameworks.

AI-Based Psychological Assessment Engine
This was one of the most technically demanding components of the project. We built an intelligent onboarding assessment where users answer scientifically designed questionnaires — but the questions aren’t static. Using Natural Language Processing (NLP), the system analyses each response and dynamically generates contextually relevant follow-up questions, building a progressively richer picture of the user’s emotional state, stress indicators, and behavioural patterns.

Behavioural Scoring Algorithm
We built the scoring engine that processes assessment responses and calculates a user’s Mental Fitness Score, Emotional Wellness Score, and stress level indicators. These scores power every recommendation the platform makes — and are updated continuously as the user progresses through their wellness journey.

AI Recommendation Engine
The recommendation engine takes the user’s current scores, listening history, and emotional trends and matches them to the most appropriate wellness content — meditation programmes, stress relief sessions, mindfulness exercises, sleep audio, or breathing exercises. Recommendations evolve automatically as the user’s profile develops.

Dynamic Audio Composition Engine
This is the feature that makes the platform genuinely unique. Instead of storing thousands of pre-recorded sessions, we built a real-time audio composition engine that intelligently combines hundreds of individual voice recording segments with background music tracks — generating a unique audio session every time a user presses play. The user can select their preferred narrator, background music style, and volume balance — and the engine handles the rest.

Backend Development
The backend was built on Node.js — handling user authentication, assessment workflows, AI recommendation pipelines, dynamic audio generation requests, progress tracking, push notifications, and analytics. PostgreSQL manages the data layer — storing user profiles, assessment responses, behavioural scores, listening history, and recommendation data with the relational integrity and sensitive health data demands.

Cloud Infrastructure
The platform runs on AWS EC2 for scalable compute with load balancing and high availability, and AWS S3 for secure storage and delivery of the voice recording library, music segments, generated audio assets, and application resources. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) handles push notifications for daily wellness reminders, assessment prompts, and personalised programme updates.

Healthcare apps require a higher standard of security testing than standard consumer apps. We validated HIPAA-ready architecture, GDPR compliance, and CCPA alignment — alongside AES-256 encryption, TLS 1.3 secure communication, OAuth and JWT authentication, role-based access control, audit logging, and penetration testing — before a single line of code went anywhere near production.
